This harness was very affordable, especially compared to several others on the market! It's really one big harness that wraps around both riders at the same time and connects them together, unlike some of the more expensive/exotic competitions that have separate straps for each rider with a connector to connect both riders together - basic, though effectively. . You and the passenger sit on the main seat belt. The rear of the harness has four straps: two straps that go around both riders at the sides and attach to the sides of the harness at the front, plus two additional straps that go over the passenger and rider shoulders and clips at the front at the top of the strap. It may be missing some bells and whistles from others but at the 10th prize of the competition it far exceeds my expectations and gives me peace of mind when riding with my 5 year old (yes she always wears her full face helmet and appropriate riding gear). There were times (picking her up from school 10 miles one way or driving 12-15 miles to town) when she would fall asleep in the back seat of my scooter. But knowing that she is attached to me, I am not afraid that she will fall. Sometimes my daughter complains that it's too tight, but it adjusts easily and given the safety and peace of mind the product offers, the occasional complaint is a small price to pay. Complaints usually relate to whether she wears her backpack with a seat belt. I would recommend it to anyone traveling relatively short distances with a younger child. -- Mummy.
