Good scale but bone density/weight mismatch

This scale is easy to set up and easy to use. The guide to set up the first user and initialize is clear and simple. In terms of accuracy, all I can say with some certainty is that all the stats seem pretty accurate (I'm not hung up that much, I'm using it as a starting point so I can evaluate my progress as a start). new training program), but bone density/mass seems far off. I'll start by saying I've never had another test, but I'm reasonably fit for my age and in excellent health. All numbers appear normal and "within range" according to the charts. BUT, "Bone Density" appears to be way out of range (below) according to the chart in the accompanying booklet. HOWEVER I found a completely different chart online on a site that sells a very similar scale that puts my number in the acceptable range. This chart states that the normal *bone mass* range is 2.4-5% for women and 3-5% for men. My number falls in the 4% range, which makes more sense to me, especially since all other numbers are in the so-called "normal" range. Bone. The test used to determine BMD (bone mineral density) is the central DXA test, or central dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, which measures bone density in the spine and hip. Bone mass refers to the amount of bone in the skeleton and is the only type of measurement that can be obtained with a device as simple as this. So if you do decide to buy this scale, I would recommend you search *bone mass scales* online to compare your numbers, ignore that section of the brochure that came with the scale, and do a little research. Find out the difference between "Bone Density” and "Bone Mass” for yourself so you can better understand what this scale can and cannot do.
