I used leftover grocery bags to collect dog waste. They're great for this because they're thin but don't break/tear. I contacted grocery stores but they wouldn't sell them to me so I contacted the bag manufacturer. I used to buy them directly from them in bulk, but then they started selling them to the public just that way at a higher price (still just over 3 cents a pack). We also use them for our small wastepaper basket because they are sturdy. They would be good for food storage and I expect other things. I love that while they're durable, they're thin so you don't end up throwing away plastic.
