Like many TV owners, I have a flat screen TV on the wall in our living room. I needed to split the optical audio output from my Panasonic plasma into 2 devices. One is a Sony amplifier, the other is a Bluetooth device for my hearing aid. The first SiYear 1 of 2 arrived and it looked easy enough. I connected the splitter to my TV and then plugged each optical device into the splitter's output. Only one side of the splitter worked. I thought I might have a bad pad so I sent it back and asked for a new one. The second came and the same problem. I found it interesting that one of the optical lines to my devices was longer than the other. The line to my stereo is 6 feet long while the other line is about 24 inches long. The longer line seems to have been a problem with this splitter. I sent this second splitter back and ordered a LINKFOR Digital Optical Splitter for $17.95. It has three outputs compared to SiYear's 1-in-2 which has two outputs. This new box works great. Another difference is that this new box requires power from the micro USB input. The optics may need to be strengthened when splitting. However, if I spend a little more, I can have my problem solved. Problem I've read other reviews and many seem happy with the SiYear 1 in 2 device. All I can say is that it didn't work for my application.
