Review on ☕ OXO 16 Ounce Thermal Mug with SimplyClean Lid - Dark Cobalt by Ron Houston

Although this mug works well, it takes some effort to disassemble and clean.

Hello. My family is a longtime fan of OXO products and we appreciate and enjoy the thoughtful design and reliability of their products. Our kitchen currently has the following OXO utensils and tools: can opener, can opener, tongs (steel and silicone), ice cream scoop, bottle brush, small cleaning brushes, liquid soap dispenser + brush and ballpoint pen "twist to open". So when I spotted this OXO travel mug, it was a "Hooray!" moment and I was itching to try it. Here's what I found out... The Good: - This travel mug is made from high quality materials and the one I received is free from manufacturing defects or defects. The mug is approximately 2.75 inches in diameter and its slim shape makes it easy to grip with any hand size in my home. The color "Sage Green" is muted, matt and very beautiful. The surface of the mug has a thin layer of pebbles that increases grip comfort; I regularly fill this mug with hot coffee to run errands and my drink stays hot for hours. In my experience, pre-warming a cup with hot tap water for a few minutes before filling it with coffee extends its "hot-hot" drinkability from "a few" hours to "several". Finally, based on my positive experience with other OXO products, cleaning the lid of this mug was a lot harder than I expected. I found that both the manufacturer's written instructions and online video did not cover the steps to disassemble the caps in sufficient detail*. I've also found that turning the lid in two requires significant grip strength, and this can be an issue for those with lesser hand strength. I was surprised how difficult it was to make. Conclusion: This is a nice travel mug that works well. It easily keeps my "freshly tapped" coffee hot for hours and doesn't leak at all. My only issue with this mug comes from the difficulty I had in taking the lid apart for cleaning. The hand force required to separate the two halves of the lid may pose a problem for some people. While the mug I own may be unique and extraordinarily complex, the example of my frustration with its lid is significant enough to warrant mention. * Note! When the lid is closed, a red marker disc is visible through the drinking hole. To split the lid in half, first snap the lid to the closed position, then grasp the bottom with one hand and firmly twist the top counterclockwise (behind the red mark). Rotate the top section until you reach the stopping point where the two sections separate. Much luck.
