I bought two of these to give one to my father-in-law. They arrived exactly as described. The plastic sleeve was the same as others have mentioned: very tight and if you are not careful you will tear the plastic. It's best to place the larger part of the caliper on top and just tuck the thin part in. They are great little tools for that. But they should be a little better out of the box. Both calipers slipped roughly. The first set was very hard. The machine marks on the slide were very noticeable. In the second set it was less. I took this kit, applied some WD-40 and worked it back and forth. It really smoothed out the action. I found out a very rough one: there was some sand and a burr in the sliding pivot. I use an emery board on the ridge and rub off the tip. It made him a lot nicer. Since my father-in-law works with wood I didn't use WD-40 as it can stain the wood so I used candle wax. It smoothed it out well, but it smells like cinnamon. If they didn't need to be disassembled and fitted to work I would give them a 4. Despite being cheap they don't deserve 5 stars as there are some areas that could be better. They may be engraved more deeply or printed to make them easier to read. Maybe I'll paint them with black enamel paint and sand them down to keep the paint in the grooves. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a quick reference, especially if you prefer the metric system. SAE is only 1/16 inch. There is room for 1/32. However, if you need smaller increments, the metric should be accurate to the millimeter.
