Very easy to set up and get started. I have 3 dogs so I bought a set of 2 and one. They come with a wrist strap, which is very convenient. My old kits had a belt clip that would always fall off when I leaned forward or even turned slightly to the side. They are great for working outdoors and with your dogs. I have a fence in my backyard but I'm renovating my garage. It had to be postponed. So I needed something so I could let the dogs out and keep them in the yard. I have a wireless collar on one of my dogs because she kept escaping through the front door. Now she doesn't even go outside. I also wanted a third remote control collar to take with me to visits and campfires. I also used it with sound to warn them to stay away from the freshly poured cement. I didn't install shock pins. I checked the shock pins. It works, but it may take a few presses of this button to get hit. I don't need a shock anyway. My girls have enough sound.
