Now that I knew it had metal gears I assumed it would be more durable than plastic gears. Of the more than 20 blinds in my house, not a single one fell out. It's a small rotating shaft that protrudes from the gearbox and eventually breaks after years of daily use. Luckily, this dump truck also has a *metal* pivot shaft, so the breakage I experienced should be prevented. However, I have one complaint. These toothed metal tippers work in the OPPOSITE direction of the plastic tippers installed throughout my house. What do I mean opposite? My existing plastic tilters rotate clockwise (clockwise) to open the blinds. This metal rotates counter-clockwise (CCW) to open my blinds. All plastic parts I have ever bought/replaced have been gear compatible. The designer of this metal decided to take a step back. How annoying.
