So I bought one of these to replace an old stand I had. I liked their low profile - great for seated use. I loved the first one so much when I got it that I immediately bought 3 more to replace 3 other old racks and have 4 identical racks in the studio. I know the quality of the material wasn't exceptional but for the price I was sold. It wasn't until a few weeks later that I realized they were the main problem. The quick-release fastener on the bottom of the stand (which allows the center stand to slide down when folded) cannot be hand-tightened. And with EVERY one of my four coasters, this quick-release mechanism is a LITTLE too weak. So when the stand is used with a load on it (standard mics, SM58, 57 etc.) the center vertical stand slowly but surely slides into the stand and hits the floor. Once set up, allow the stand to become unstable and change its height, resulting in constant adjustment. In short, I will most likely replace them because the value of not having a stand is going down and the mic breakage is more to me than the benefit of a cheap option. I'll probably keep them in my backup closet, but this one stupid issue is ruining everything. Samson made a nut and bolt adjustable quick release mechanism and you would have the PERFECT stand!
