Review on πŸšͺ Satin Chrome Schlage F10CS V ELA 626 Elan Light Commercial Passage Lever: Effortless Access with Contemporary Style by Christopher Rodriguez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks solid, time will tell

I had a very well used outside door in a rental building that had a broken doorknob and had to be replaced. This door uses a separate deadbolt lock for security, which still works well. I just needed a replacement handle. I chose this one because I wasn't sure I needed an industrial grade handle, but I definitely wanted something more durable than the cheap doorknobs you can find everywhere. This "light commercial" pen looked like it would fill the bill and was priced less than a commercial pen and about double what I would pay for a regular home pen. This handle fits perfectly in the space of the old door knob. I didn't even have to mount a strike plate on the opposite door jamb and was able to leave the existing one. But I had to machine the corners of the door mold for the striker plate on the side of the door. The original doorknob had a curved edge plate, but this one has a square one. But it only lasted a few minutes and everything is fine. I suspect that square hardware is more commonly used on commercial doorknobs. Everything else went together as instructed, although a few parts were included that I didn't need to use, including what appeared to be extra panel covers or door hardware and a door jamb. Don't throw away the instructions, they contain a link to make a warranty claim. The door handle has a solid feel and smooth movement and I hope it will last for many years. I think the 'Advertisement Light' category is appropriate for the item and price and I will update this review if the doorknob trips prematurely.
