It seems that the only part of this French press they skimped on was the lid, which is plastic. But it looks nice and the double-walled jug is almost worth the price on its own. The screen is good for removing silt without creating so much drag that the soil splatters on its sides. 1 liter is a relatively large amount of coffee, but perfect for brewing 12 ounces of coffee for two. I also use a pitcher for iced tea and margaritas as the double wall helps keep the ice from melting. The glass could have been thicker and stronger but for this price it seems like they made compromises in all the right places.
