This humidifier definitely blows my desktop humidifier out of the water. This humidifier holds much more water. It takes about a week before we refill it, we don't let it run 24 hours, just before bed until morning. It was easy to assemble. I filled the base with water, put in the pump, put the covers on and turned it on. It detects the humidity in the room and turns off when there is enough humidity in the room. It has a low to medium to high humidity setting that controls cold vapor output. When it runs out of water, it will turn off automatically. He also has a remote control. It runs very quietly, making it perfect for my son's bedroom. This prevents nosebleeds and allergy symptoms like dry heat.
