I don't know who could say this thing isn't loud, it's VERY loud and will make any person or animal that has it totally alarm used on . It scared me and I knew it was going to happen. I also only took it out of the box a second ago, but I don't think the clip will slip out of the bottom and accidentally activate the alarm. I really hurried to write this review. I literally wrote after opening the box and using it once. It was VERY noisy then. It hasn't been that loud since I first pulled out the pen. It's not even that loud. If you cover the lower round part with your hand (which probably wouldn't be that difficult for a theoretical attacker), you can hardly hear it. I think you get what you pay for. I bought it for a trip abroad, I probably won't even take it with me.
