The DS3231 AT24C32 clock module worked perfectly and a CR2032 battery was supplied with each module. As other reviewers point out, the charging circuitry can damage the CR2032 battery. I removed the load resistor to disable this circuit. The module works normally and keeps time when the device is off. 1 star deducted because the seller should have identified a known issue with the charger. See the following forum thread for a six year discussion: forum.arduino.cc /t/zs-042-ds3231-rtc-module/268862. The last few entries summarize the problem and include a picture of a resistor that can be used to turn off the charging circuit.
