This set of 2 mugs are really quite large. They hold at least 20 ounces of liquids and are shaped in such a way to allow the liquid to cool relatively quickly which is what you want for a cappuccino or similar beverage. For soup, again they hold quite a bit but are a little difficult to hold with the handle, but they are ok. My only concern is the ceramic seems extra brittle, so not sure if they will chip easily, time will tell. They are dishwasher safe which is a must
