Review on Red TESmart 2 Port 4K@60Hz Ultra HD HDMI KVM Switch with 2x1, Keyboard & Mouse Pass Through, USB 2.0 Device Support, and 5ft KVM Cables by Brent Peterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

4k@60Hz, EDID support, easy switching, just what I needed

I'm using a desktop (HP Envy 750 with RTX 2060) and a laptop (Dell Precision 7540) both using the monitor's native resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with no crashing. There is no problem when switching desktop geometry, as KVM makes both computers think they are still connected, even when switching to a different computer. Removed scroll lock hotkey sequence - right control hotkey sequence The only odd thing about this is that it has a mode switch that has great pass-through keyboard support, but this mode is disabled by default. This meant that when the wobbly little 2/3 size mechanical keyboard I use couldn't activate the scroll lock sequence (on a mini keyboard, scroll lock is a hotkey combo, maybe that's why), it also prevented me from navigating into passthrough mode or switch the hotkey to the right control key instead. I had to dig up an old ultra-simple keyboard that came with my desktop a long time ago and use it temporarily so I could switch both the mode to passthrough and the hotkey to the correct control. After that, even my flimsy little mini-mechanics board now works fine with KVM, allowing me to use the correct control sequence to switch computers. Push 4K at 30Hz and have no EDID support to keep monitor settings stable on both machines.
