When I use the Bluetooth connected WH-1000XM3 headphones on my 2018 Macbook Pro, ambient noise stays on even in noise-cancelling mode, to the point where it's actually worse than no noise cancellation at all. I connected the headphones to the app on my phone and lowered the ambient noise settings and it worked, but only on the phone. When I reconnected to my Macbook, I had the same problem. When I connect to my Macbook through the headphone jack, I don't have this problem. But I don't want to be tied to the headphone cable. I followed all the troubleshooting steps in the manual and online and tried contacting Sony support. I couldn't do this via chat or email as Sony doesn't recognize this model number. When I called they let me go through all the troubleshooting steps I had already done and then told me I needed to download the drivers from Apple. There are no such drivers. Macbook is fully updated in all its software and firmware. In addition, ambient noise is picked up by the headphones themselves. I can block it by putting my hands over the headphones, but typing that way is difficult. UPDATE: After three months of trying to get an answer, I was told that the headphones are not supposed to work with laptops or desktops. Hmm, that's funny. When I read the text of their ad on this site, it didn't say it DOESN'T WORK WITH DESKTOP OR LAPTOPS (still doesn't work). used by people with phones. I can't imagine anyone walking or cycling in it. This is pathetic and unacceptable. I want to return these, but it took me more than 30 days to realize it wasn't a bug or a feature. If this were an Apple product, there would be multiple class action lawsuits and stories all over the internet. Website that the company replaced these headphones with working ones if you called support and gave them the serial number. I called support like an idiot. A few minutes later the person on the line came back and tried to walk me through some basic troubleshooting (which I've been doing since November [see above]) and then left, came back and said there was something wrong with my laptop.. .and then when I pointed out that people had the same problem on different laptops and desktops he said and I'm not kidding that headphones ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK WITH THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS and when I pointed out that wireless headphones are pretty much useless if you can't connect them to a 3rd party product, it said Sony HAS NO RECORD OF SEEING THIS PROBLEM. This particular support rep also had a very annoying verbal quirk: he started every sentence with "actually" followed by something that wasn't true. This product may not be sold. Update May 12, 2019: I'm tired of waiting for a solution. Bought new headphones. They cheated me out of $350.
