I bought several of them as Christmas presents and the recipients were definitely enthusiastic. One person said it would be a great Halloween job, which is true, and didn't think about it until they said it. The chain at the end moves, giving a good effect, but the rest of the chain remains motionless. We had no trouble fitting standard wine bottles into the hole. The chain won't stand up straight unless there's a bottle in the mount, which is to be expected as it's designed to stand up with a bottle to ensure proper weight distribution. I think this is a great gift idea, definitely unexpected and unconventional when it comes to a gift.
