Review on ๐ŸŽถ ROKR Wooden Puzzle Music Jewelry Box by William Sanchez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A wonderful kit if you come prepared.

Absolutely beautiful. It was a bit more difficult to put some parts together. The large acrylic tube fit the small clips just monstrously. Some very sensible loops from them allowed for a patient and slightly subtle fit. A few tips for those looking at the reviews here. 1. Cut the pieces with a utility knife. Don't believe in the possibility of breaking them.2. Invest in a set of jewelry rasps. And lightly sand each edge so the burrs from cutting the pieces are smooth. Trust me, this little thing will save you headaches in the future. 600+ grit sandpaper is your friend. Lightly sand the flat surfaces of each gear.4. There is not enough wax in the kit to work with. Buy some cheap tea lights (less than $1 for 6), pull out the wick, and apply wax to each surface of the gears. EVERYONE. OUT. YOU. Even if he doesn't speak. You will thank me later.5. Check the gear train en route. Wind up the music box and let them play. So you can tweak things as needed. If it's stuck in one spot on the gear all the time, you can sand down that little spot and it will work perfectly when you're done. 6.) Have a small bottle of glue handy (I use Tacky Glue). I broke a part for which there was no spare part. Applied with a sewing awl to apply it precisely to the crack and once it dries you won't see the patch unless you know exactly what you're looking for. Take your time. The parts will not deform if you insert them carefully without forcing them. Remember this is 1/8th plywood. Be careful. I've built things from UGears and used the same building rules. This kit lost a star because it was very difficult to insert the large acrylic tube. But he was very handsome and funny. I think I'll use a wood stain to touch up where the sanding left rough spots (laser burn wears off quickly).
