My first incentive was that in the event of a long power outage (which happens here during hurricanes) I would be able to keep my phones and laptop charged or use my asthma nebulizer in the car in an emergency. I also thought it would come in handy for long car trips, like taking the grandkids to Disney World. c and phones, iPads, etc.) powered by USB. I know some new cars come with USB ports. However, mine is 7 years old and he doesn't have it. Now I have two of these and can use both at the same time without compromising on effectiveness. This last feature came in handy this morning when I went to the hairdresser's with my granddaughter and found that the iPad's battery was dead. When I got to the salon (20 minute drive) the i-Pad was at 35% power - enough to keep her entertained (and me sane) while she waited her turn. It also powered my small handheld vacuum. while I was cleaning the car. This is a small AC powered unit. It didn't lose power and worked great at full suction. I doubt that this inverter is suitable for more powerful devices or anything that generates heat, but for normal needs it is ideal. The block is small but mighty. It fits easily in a glove box.
