I opted for suspenders (no straps) to hold up my "work" jeans and I really missed my Gerber multi-tool, no strap to hang my Gerber nylon cloth bag. I searched the internet for a holster that would work without a belt and couldn't find one that looked workable and claimed to work without a belt. While this one doesn't seem to mention that it works without a belt, judging by the photos on the Revain list it will work - and it does! As mentioned in another review, the holster is a little tight on the tool. , and without a belt to withstand the pull of pulling out the tool, the holster pops out of the pants. So I put some tiny washers (nothing fancy) on the mounting screws and now it works like a charm. Please note that the sleeve pads are not rigid so tool spacing can be easily adjusted by increasing or decreasing tension on them. Now it works great! I still don't know why there aren't any complaints about this holster working on pans without a belt.
