crossed fingers for TV and Video

First of all this player has worked fine for me with one exception throwing error 408bc504 repeatedly on one disc (so far), brand new HD DVD copy ready to play "Planet Earth". This error is a machine freeze that requires a power outage to get it working again. Aside from that drive, I've had no issues with SD-DVD or HD-DVD, including NetFlix rentals. I've been following a lot of discussions on the AVS forums ([.] and I know a few things I didn't know before I bought this player. This player doesn't have 5.1 analog audio outputs, which means I'll get the best sound I need an A/V receiver that can extract it from HDMI connections On the receiver I use a SP/DIF (optical audio out) connection which still gives me better sound than any other device I've had before FWIW, the A35 and XA2 models have 5.1 audio outputs, it doesn't matter that this unit doesn't output 1080p as any TV receiver that displays 1080p will correctly deinterlace a 1080i signal and display a 1080p picture derived from a 1080p signal cannot be distinguished. 1080p/24 instead of 10 fps).80p/30 or 1080p/60); If your TV receiver displays this signal correctly, you need an A30 or A35. I use it with a 62" Toshiba RPHDTV; I sit about 13 feet away and find the picture quality excellent but almost indistinguishable from a great picture. the quality that up-converted standard definition DVDs offer. This player does a great job ( at about 9 feet from my screen the difference in PQ is noticeable (the detail is more apparent) although I used to have a great upconverting player.
