Saved me a headache

This actually solved the problem I was having with the DVR. I have Vikovation Opia 2 which does not start recording automatically. It turns on, but you have to press record every time. I think since this can handle more consumption, the device gets all the power it needs to boot properly using the USB instead of wasting the entire outlet on just the AC plug.
