Loses and changes connections. Grrr!

Although the sound is great, my problem is that the device keeps trying to connect to a nearby Bluetooth source. IE I plug my phone in and walk and sit about 20 feet away from me - and if someone is between me and the device - it tries to connect to the next device. It is in order?
