I have a Eureka model 4870. Also known as "Smartvac", "Boss", "Pet Lover" . The vacuum doesn't seem to pull as much. It could also be due to a full bag, but if the bag is empty and still weak, check the filter as follows. The front panel (silver/grey on my vacuum cleaner) has a pull tab on one side. You press the tab and the door opens. Nothing is holding the filter, so it should fall out on its own, or it can be poked around the edges a bit with a butter knife. Check filters. If the paper part is bright white in the middle (as in the picture of a new one), it does not need to be replaced. If it looks grayish or blackish, it's probably time to replace it. If you've used your vacuum continuously for at least a year since you last changed the filter, no matter how clean it looks, it's probably time to replace it. completely black with dirt and debris then it definitely needs to be replaced and there could be a problem with your vacuum if it's that bad. Make sure the new one is facing the same direction as the old one. Then just put the cap on and you're good to go! You may not notice much of a difference, but a vacuum with a clean filter should suck a little harder and the air coming out should be cleaner and dust-free. Price and fits exactly like the original filter that came with my vacuum cleaner. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a HEPA filter for the Eureka 4800 series vacuum cleaner.
