I live in Southwest Florida and have drains on my porch that direct water into my gardens. This porch with a pool is covered with a cage, but a lot of water reaches these porch drains (they're called capybaras). The end of each drain is outside the cage and must be protected to prevent snakes, chameleons, etc. from entering the drain pipe and onto the porch. I just stick these drain shields into the outlet pipe and it keeps any gremlins out allowing the water to drain quickly. These aluminum drain plugs are very flexible so they can be rotated or expanded to fit any drain pipe. They never need to be cleaned as the holes in these devices are wide enough to let dirt out but keep animals out.
