Review on Spectra Premium TY37 Distributor by Ryan Williams

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Manifold mismatch, out of specification

I ordered this TY37 distributor for my 1989 Toyota v6 pickup. The distributor has 2 problems: First, the shaft itself is too long. The block in the truck has a shank length of about 62mm compared to the 70mm of this block. The longer stem prevents the manifold from fully seating in the head/block rendering it useless. Also, the resistance of the pickup coils is around 230 ohms compared to the FSM specification of 140-180 ohms. I verified this part number on the Spectra Premium website using the vehicle's VIN. The Revain garage also tested this and I checked the Toyota part number myself. That part just looks weird. I returned for a refund.
