2008 Suzuki XL7 - Great Rebuild

Was a bit unsure when it arrived but decided to give it a try. The case is plastic, but solid. The brackets bend slightly, but it turned out perfect in the end. I installed this on a 2008 Suzuki XL7. An OEM replacement will cost around $350-$400 plus labor. Following the instructions on YouTube I was able to remove the door panel fairly easily. The two most difficult parts of the installation were figuring out where to mount and what wires to connect. In fact, I was able to install the device in a hole in some of the internal metal structure without any modifications or drilling. I just used two screws holding it to the bracket. Luckily the staples were flexible and I was able to shape them to match the internal metal structure. Wiring was the hardest part. I had a hard time finding schematics and it ended up being trial and error. The wiring made some sense, but if you want to know, green to gray and blue to orange worked here. I recommend using Loctite for the connecting rod bolts. I had to trim it but it was easy enough. The connecting rod can easily be bent to the desired angle with pliers. Since I was lucky on site, no modifications to the door damper or skin were necessary. It took two hours of wiring and finding a place to mount it. Knowing what I know now, I could do it in about 30 minutes. All in all a great and easy fix for a broken actuator. Would definitely use again. The only downside is that I had to use both mounts for one ride.
