These shoes are great for an active kid who is always on the go. The hard plastic around the laces is hard on the laces and will wear them down as the laces rub against the hard plastic. We have a second set of laces and I need to buy more laces before the shoes grow. We won't be buying another one with hard plastic around the laces but we think the shoe met and exceeded our expectations for a great fit, support and cleanliness for a kid!
