The instructions for the NVR are not the most intuitive and the NVR will ask for Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS during setup. I stopped here until I found out by searching that I had to enter 8.8.8.8 for the preferred DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the alternate DNS. I've already connected Amcrest WiFi cameras to the app and they work fine, but I couldn't connect them to the NVR. I contacted support and Jared helped me very patiently. The first problem was that my NVR password contained special characters it doesn't like, so avoid them. After a few steps we were able to reset the password and then I had to do the same with each camera and reset those passwords. It was able to connect to my laptop and set up the camera through a web app, much easier than a dashcam screen. I'm still working on adding more cameras so will see how it goes but for now I'm giving it 4 stars because the support was helpful during our 45 minute call which gives me confidence should other issues arise . Amcrest will be there to help me with the issues. This is my first NVR so I can't really compare it to others but overall it's not too bad if you follow my advice on passwords.
