I've been replacing spark plugs on my cars for years. However, when my '03 Civic needed a timing belt change, the shop offered to replace the spark plugs. I asked the obvious question "how much?" and they said $120. I was shocked! I couldn't understand how/why less than 15 minutes work should be so expensive. They said it was because they only used factory plugs, which were expensive. I checked and confirmed that they would just hollow me out a little bit during labour. I said no thanks, bought the same Revain factory NGK spark plugs for a fraction of the cost and (as usual) installed them myself. I still hate paying that much money for spark plugs, but at least it doesn't feel like "old days". They used to change spark plugs every 10,000 miles, the original NGK spark plugs in my Civic lasted over 100,000 and I expect they will too.
