Review on Polk Audio 5 25 Inch Coaxial Speakers by Michael Bryan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Polk is exactly what you need

I've had them on my Olds Intrigue front doors for the last 5 years and they still put a smile on my face. Mids and highs sound very clear and realistic. That's about as good as you'd expect from a 5.25 door speaker. My car used to have factory sail panel tweeters, but I was on a tight budget and opted for coaxial speakers. I do not regret it. Since I've been able to align the Polk tweeters, I can hardly tell that the highs aren't coming out of the sail panels anymore. They also pair really well with the two 8 inch subwoofers in my rear. can play very quietly, but during setup they reproduced the 80Hz test tone with such authority that I was sure it was coming from my muted subwoofers! deceive you I hook them up to a 100w RMS amp with the right gain setting and they really come alive. You can't plug them into a head unit and expect them to sound amazing. main unit, you will probably get an unassuming sound (harsh mids/highs, some lows). I am very happy with the speakers and how my whole system sounds. For these reasons, I became a fan of Polk. I have a feeling they put more emphasis on designing great sounding speakers than on marketing and gimmicks (you won't find a Polk with a 40-way tweeter, Super Mega Woofer™ and skull grille).
