Flavor comes out a little. I bought it mainly for mixing with soups, baking pancakes, etc. And I've used this brand's unflavored whey before (which I really liked). The texture is pretty terrible, but not the worst I've tried. If you choose to do this, you'll probably never use more than half a scoop at a time because, frankly, the texture and thickening of things make things hard to swallow. I hope they improve the formula soon. It was good in soups, anything more than half a scoop would give it an oddly thick texture that felt gritty. For example, I tried adding chilli out of a jar I just made and after adding 1/2 scoop, it was like the consistency of dry, thick hummus. The pancakes didn't rise at all, I even tried adding lots of egg whites. It also didn't pair well with vanilla extract or other flavorings. Actually I'm sad :(
