Review on Klein Tools 5541610-14 Tool Bag with Shoulder Strap: 40-pocket Storage for Tools, Vibrant Orange Interior by Gordon Turman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall a well made bag with a few nasty design issues.

I use my tool bag all day for my appliance repair jobs, carry it about 6-10 houses a day and need a decent tool kit on hand. I have been using this type of bag for over 10 years and prefer it to box or zip top bags. It's more than I normally spend, but I also like my small hand and decided to give it a try. I've spent a decade getting my gear down to a reasonable weight and they help me make a living so maybe the little money spent is worth it. Pros: Light colored interior for visibility really helps me find the instrument I want, easier than most of my instruments have black handles. I don't need to paint my tools with bright paint or stickers for clarity. Plenty of pockets inside and out allow me to organize my bag without having to look at it to grab a tool once I get used to the layout. . This is important when bending in tight spaces. - Rigid floor for stability at work and when transported in a van. - Durable fabric and stitching, I'll see if that holds up over time. Cloth pouches wear out but at this price point I'm hoping for many years of use. Cons: - Very deep pockets, overall very deep pocket. All but my longest tools tend to slip too far into pockets for easy retrieval. I'll get used to it, but this bag is 2-3 inches lower than my previous ones. I don't like the shoulder straps and the unpadded handles make it a bit uncomfortable on long walks. Your hands are asking for help. - It's a bit bigger than I expected and more than I really need. I've always used electrician style bags, but none were this big. The problem is that the tool bag usually fills up without maintenance, so large bags quickly become heavy. The inner pockets are too small for larger tools such as bit cases or drills/screwdrivers. They fit in a pocket, but won't stow in tight inner pockets. Longer hand tools will probably do, but most of me have houses in remote locations for quick access.

  • Great price
Cons
  • Useless features
