I carve a lot of wood and horn. The shape of this knife is ideal for roughing and fine work. However, the top of the blade will dull faster than the rest, possibly due to the factory/hardening method. A simple alignment will negate this negative experience; There isn't a carving knife that doesn't need periodic touch-up (or improvement) on projects. I recommend this knife to carvers of all skill levels. I recommend buying Morakniv 122.
