Review on Dell E2414H Widescreen Discontinued Manufacturer Wide Screen Monitor by Quinton Garrett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice monitor but I still hate widescreen

I was really looking forward to this monitor. I've been using my previous (17 inch) monitor for almost a decade. I already knew I didn't like widescreen formats but decided that going from 17 to 24 inches would make a difference; I was upset when I realized that not much had changed for me. It's a very good monitor, but I don't have more vertical space than my previous non-widescreen monitor, and the apps I use tend to be vertical (Word and Firefox). I really appreciate the extra horizontal space, especially since I can place a website and a Word doc side by side and explore while I write, but I hate the fact that I'm using the mouse almost every time I go to a website must scroll . to see everything important (my appearance is set to medium, so that's part of it). This does not apply to this monitor, which is generally very nice. It was easy to set up and I never had to think about it. I did a lot of research before deciding on this monitor and overall I'm very happy with it. But next time I buy a monitor I think it must be 32 inch to buy it. If I knew how little space I would gain by going from a 17 inch monitor with no width to a 24 inch monitor, I would go all the way to 32 inches.

Pros
  • ‎1920x1080
Cons
  • The monitor stand is too wobbly.
