I bought the K5 Pro completely blind as it hasn't been on sale long enough to get any real reviews. It was exactly what I was looking for: a cheap all-in-one solid state DAC/amp. I've since learned that this isn't a perfect measure, that there are other solutions that are technically better, but in my opinion there are absolutely no downsides. At home I use a DX3 Pro (v.1) as my THX 789 DAC and while it's significantly less powerful I enjoy the sound just as much. I also know that technically all DACs are the same, but in blind tests I prefer the AKM velvet chips 10/10 times, so this is exactly what I need. Plus, for $150 it won't break the bank. The only problem I've had is that I can't load the drivers onto my work PC, probably because the driver is marked as "Beta" (?). Anyway, I just brought a laptop and am using it with no problems. Again, the K5 may not be technically perfect, but it's incredibly musical and I'm more than happy with my purchase!
