I don't work in IT but I have to; I seem to be constantly upgrading RAM or replacing a drive on someone's computer, so I finally decided to get one of these duplicators. I chose this one because it has a lid that turns it into a small two-drive enclosure that I can keep on my desk and use when I don't need to clone a drive. I just cloned a 240GB SSD to a 500GB SSD and a 320GB HDD to another 500GB SSD and I am very happy with the results. On one of them I used the offline cloning method and after that I checked the partitions in Windows, they were all there but of course I had to adjust them to my liking. I've also used it to clone another drive online with software, and while it requires a bit more work up front, I still think it's the best way if you have the time. Cloning times were comparable as one was reading from HDD and the other was reading from SSD. But with only 250 or 320GB to clone, the job was done before I wondered how long it would take. The docking station/duplicator has a small fan under the drive bays. It makes a slight hum when it's on (not just while it's running), and while I don't think it's needed for cloning a drive, I'm glad it's there when the drives are covered. Obviously this is for 2.5" drives and you can't use it for larger 3.5" hard drives. However, if you have the right adapters, there's no reason why you couldn't use them to clone or dock M.2 SSDs or even mSATA drives. Either way, the docking station works great and the sleek design makes my desk look like an IT lab. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, but you can use your own cable if you want to connect it to a USB-A port. Also included is a power adapter and instructions.
