For $61, it's pretty hard to beat. Check out the prices of other cuckoo clocks. Body, weights and pendulum are made of wood. It's polished smooth and *not* plastic. The little bird that comes out is actually flapping its little wings as it sings. He sings every hour, one cuckoo for every hour of the time, and a small echo cuckoo as a bonus for each normal cuckoo to imitate a mountain echo. Nice gesture. So at eight o'clock you get sixteen cuckoos. The clock has a light sensor so it will stop peeking after the light is turned off. It was easy to assemble, although the battery cover is a bit sticky and it comes with 3 "C" batteries, not "D". My daughter *loves* this. I wrote this review in 2017. Updated October 2021. The clock is still ticking and the birds are still singing, every hour on the clock. This is really a wonderful product.
