I really got a parent "victory" this morning when I told my kid he can practice cutting fruit, but what he's cutting, it must eat. Of course, my kid ate a whole bunch of fruit. Tomorrow we'll see if it works with veggies! Their blades are thicker than regular knives, so you won't be able to get as clean a cut. But the serrated edge helps kids cut easier. The blades are 4.5", 5.5" and 6.5" long. The handles are thin and flattened. They are not as comfortable to hold as a real knife, but they are silicone on both sides marked to make them easier to grip They are easy to use clean in the dishwasher (on the top rack) Warning: they are not as sharp as real knives, but be aware that they can accidentally cut your fingers. The serrated edges are sharp enough so I'm not claiming this as a product defect. But use under adult supervision. Overall this is a good children's knife set. I like the idea of teaching children how to use a knife safely from an early age and involve them in the cooking process .
