I thought the "green" idea would be great if it worked. Well it isn't. It's said to soften water, change its pH, and allow soiled clothing to release dirt by attracting it to the 'ionized' ceramic particles in the plastic stirrer balls. I have checked the condition of the water with my verified aquarium water test strips (tested in beaker) and have not noticed any change. Maybe it takes all that shaking of the washing machine to work? But when I actually tried it, the clothes didn't look that clean. Most of the food stains stayed on my kitchen apron and the dirty water didn't look all that dirty. So yeah, it's a failure for me. One of those great ideas that requires more work.
