I bought this USB-A dongle specifically for dual 4K monitors to make it work on my Apple M1 laptop. I use productivity software, zoom, regular office worker stuff - I don't play games or watch movies. The Apple MacBook M1 does not natively support dual displays. The best workaround is to get a USB-A HDMI, connect to a hub and run 2xmonitors through the hub and the Displaylink drivers on the M1. The biggest problem with this workaround is that you cannot close the laptop's clamshell. I don't like it when a laptop opens up and takes up space on my desk. Airplay is built into this dongle. When streaming to built-in Airplay this way, I can close the screen and stream via Airplay. The trade-off is a slight lag, which is normal as I will be using MS Office on the second screen.
