At first glance this looks like a really good deal for a pack of tins and staples and if everything worked it would. Upon arrival, however, Scobie appeared to be dead. This isn't the first time I've made kombucha, but it was the first time I've failed. This clip sank to the bottom of the ship (before that I always saw them float even if they initially sank to the bottom). After 2 days mold appeared on top and I threw the batch away. I have always been very hygienic because I have brewed myself. The jar has been thoroughly cleaned and washed in StarSan as I always do to ensure everything is sterile. I boiled the water and sugar before adding the tea. I'm not sure if the problem was in the bracket or something else, but it didn't help us.
