Works very well and is easy to use

I'm always a little skeptical about this type of non-electrical device. However, this one is easy to use and does exactly what it was designed to do. To get started, the base connects quickly and easily to the counter. It then stays in place without slipping. Firm footing of the base on the counter is key to good appliance performance. I tested this device with carrots because if it's good at chopping and chopping carrots, it should work with any other veg. I quickly learned that turning the crank to make thin slices was a lot easier physically than turning them back and forth on a mandolin. I use a mandoline slicer often and have cut myself too many times to count. Turning the handle is much easier, and this eliminates the possibility of cutting yourself. Of course, most mandoline slicers give you a ton of thickness options that this machine doesn't have. In addition to the slicer, there are two different options for the grater. The big one works quickly and easily. The smaller one requires a bit more strength for a hard object like a carrot. I used a shredder for onions, potatoes and of course carrots. I tried celery but celery doesn't work. It seems too stretchy. The device is quickly configured. Once attached to the counter, the outer ring continues, the slicer or grater head goes in and the handle locks into place. This is all easy, but the handle must be fully inserted and secured before the grater or slicer can work. Easy to clean, take apart, rinse and place everything except the base in the top rack of the dishwasher. For anyone who doesn't have a food processor or just wants another option for something small or quick, I recommend this article.
