Surprisingly good lens. I bought this to photograph pets at an animal shelter where the lighting is poor, but I didn't want to use a flash. Autofocus locks in surprisingly quickly with my D750, even wide open in low light. I was expecting it to hunt a bit, especially as I'm shooting wavy subjects. It's pretty sharp, although I wouldn't use it for artistic photos, but it does a great job on hair and mustache photography. The minimum focus distance is short enough that I can reach out and position or pet an animal without stepping back. to focus a little.
