Takes trial and error, but works great. Some hints.

This item works great and fits in my tiny freezer. Plan ahead and make them within a week so you have a supply. However, this is a bit tricky. You really only have to keep it for a minimum period of time otherwise for some reason it will introduce more impurities and it will be very difficult for you to get out. For me, the ideal time is 5 p.m., when the ice freezes just below the small drain holes in our freezer. Only shoot over 20 hours if you start with warm water or your freezer is running a little warmer than usual. But even if you're in the trial and error phase, you'll still get 80% of the way with nice big cubes that look great. ) The quality of the water is what matters most here, as is the cleanliness of your form. Since water can only drain through tiny holes in the bottom, this means you'll still sink to the bottom of the tray cubes instead of dripping through the holes. Tapping the counter before placing it in the freezer will mostly get rid of the air bubbles on the tray, but not the minerals in your water, which settle to the bottom of the tray and form microbubbles. if frozen. So make sure you clean the surface thoroughly before adding water and use distilled water if possible. If you do both, make sure the water is contaminant-free so you don't end up with microbubbles at the bottom of your cubes when they freeze. If you don't want to waste distilled water to fill it all the way up, I've had the good fortune to fill the bottom tank with standard purified water and then just top up with distilled water. It doesn't matter how dirty the aquarium water is, you should just make sure the trays that the cubes live in are free of contaminants for the clearest results. the slightly uneven tops caused by the freeze fan and also takes care of the little indentations the cubes land on the bottom from the drain holes.
