These replacement filters are better than Sears Original Equipment filters. After reading some reviews saying they didn't work as well as the original filters I didn't want to try them but I'm glad I did. These filters are much more durable than paper filters. In terms of humidity, I don't see any difference; I fill my water bottles at the same rate as before. Living up north my stove doesn't come on as often on warmer days in the winter months and my radiators don't dry out the air as quickly. Therefore, it is easier for the humidifier to maintain the relative humidity in the house. On very cold days (particularly below 0 degrees Fahrenheit), the furnace revs up quite a bit, the air gets drier, and the humidifier has a harder time keeping up. This is true no matter what type of filter you use. Although it is recommended to change filters every month, I usually leave these filters on for two months before changing them, sometimes longer. I add a small amount of BestAir humidifier (supplied in a green bottle) to each water container and have had no problems for the past 3 years. I use these filters both at home and at work and recommend them. In fact, as I write this, I am awaiting the delivery of two sets of replacement filters. Hope that helps.
