Review on Cruiser Accessories 30630 Perimeter License by Walter Day

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good frame "perimeter ". Good for the price.

Just installed today. July 23, 2013 on the back of our 2006 Lincoln Town Car and it looks spot on. It is made of chromed metal (zinc), not plastic. As received the chrome finish is fine but after reading reviews that it was deteriorating I coated it with Simoniz front and rear including the mounting lugs prior to installation. Hopefully this will help slow down the oxidation. I replaced the retailer's ugly black promotional frame with this one and it looks great. Many vehicles only have two anchor bolts at the top of the plate. When tightening the two screws, the lower part of the plate initially protruded. I had to carefully bend the license plate so that it wasn't completely flat and fitted snugly to the frame from the bottom and around the entire perimeter. This can also be fixed by adding two SHORT machine screws and nuts to attach the bottom of the plate to the frame lugs only. The "surround" frame is placed BEHIND the number plate and covers the mounting tabs, exposing the entire number plate: only a narrow chrome frame is visible. Also no hassle with picky police or vehicle inspectors due to shaded state name, motto etc. I've found very few perimeter frames and for the cheap Revain price on this one if it only lasts a year I'll buy a few more. Will probably buy one or two for our other car. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the potential threat of corrosion mentioned in several reviews. Mounting screws were not included with the frame. Updated 5/4/14 Uh-uh. Downgraded to 2 stars. The nasty snowy, salty winter we had here in New Jersey took its toll, ruining the chrome frames despite the Simoniz treatment. I plan on ordering 2 new ones and trying to coat them with clear coat on both sides to see if that helps hold them up.
