I bought this for my 2003 xr50. I was able to use the original slider and needle assembly. I simply pulled out the slide and needle assembly that came with this carb and set it aside. First I installed a new carburetor without changing anything. The bike started quickly, the idle was adjusted without problems. I think the air/fuel screw is about 1.5 turns back. I took it for a test ride and it squirted quite a bit at full throttle. It turned out that he works very richly. I changed the main jets between the carburetors. The main jet of the original carburettor was significantly smaller than the main jet of the new carburettor. I didn't see any markings on the new carburetor's main jet, so I don't know the size difference. After the original carburettor main jet was installed, I rode the bike again and it works great. I was able to run wide open for several minutes with no problems. The throttle responds quickly to sudden changes from fully closed to fully open. The choke lever is pretty cheap as is the overall look compared to the stock carb but what can I say for $13.
