About 18 months ago my AC fan motor started making a lot of noise. It got to the point where I couldn't crank the fan to maximum anymore because I could feel the pedals shaking. On a trip to the mechanic for an irrelevant question, he asked about the price of replacing the heater motor. According to you, $350. To my uneducated mind, this seemed perfectly reasonable. I didn't have any money at the time, so I waited. In the end, I decided that 106 degree heat with less than half the power of my fan was enough for me, so I figured I'd fix this thing. Luckily I checked and the part was super cheap. I figured the installation should have covered the rest of the cost until I checked YouTube how difficult the installation would be. On my 2007 Silverado, the only tool needed was a 7mm wrench to remove the baffle. After causing the old fan motor to fail, I removed the wiring harness, attached it to the new motor, and put the new one in place. It took me longer to get the dirt out of my pants than it did installing this fan. Engine. I know a lot of models aren't that easy, but if you own a mid-2000's Silverado, chances are you'll have it just as easy.
